Good old-fashioned techno from Mental Overdrive on YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED. Though "Intro" starts the album off like a space wars soundtrack, "Elephantastic" goes off into an electro spree with a melody that's unspeakably bouncy. "Europa" and "Run to the Hills," though, hearkens back to the traditional 4/4 techno, while "R.I.P.R.A.W." is the heartbeat of an intergalactic space monster. The guitar of "Original Material" adds a bit of rock swagger, whereas "Mysterio" lives up to its name with a moody melody. The long running time of "The Rage" doesn't sound quite as wrathful as its title would suggest; rather, it's a Moroder-tinged jam with a Danny Tenaglia breakdown. Manipulation has never sounded so good.
