Mental Overdrive settles into his new home, the Scandinavian Smalltown Supersound label, for 083. And he's perfectly happy to introduce himself with a horn fanfare as well as a child singing on "New Clear Day." "Dekadin" perks up some with more classic techno feel, replete with flanged bongos, while "Diskodans" skips the disco all together for some blippy electro. A bit of melancholy slips into "Tunglskin" with its field recordings of children on a playground hiding behind the melody before the rhythm breaks in. "Kawasaki" offers some easy listening samples up to be rearranged and reconfigured, and the 5-string guitar on "Kinin-I-Gin" suggests some Wild West showdown. The guitar reappears on "Ases Tod" to take the album out on a sedate note.
