Edit: We got the rpm's sorted. The tracks that have a side to themselves spin at 45, the others 33. The locked groove is 33. :)

In a conversation with Miles, he confirmed that it was built to be a 45rpm track but conceded that it still sounds nice at 33rpm.

I think the best thing to do is just play them however you feel like. I like the whole entire series at 33. Dont much care for rushed tempos in general. Just a personal preference.

It looks like Modern Love has answered our question -- check out the speed at which Mnemosyne was ripped via their twitter feed: http://twitter.com/#!/ourmodernlove/statuses/149454025467764738

Yes I agree the etchings are as you say. For some reason the locked groove sounds better at 45 and Mnemosyne sounds better at 33, at least to my ears. I think the official speeds are however as you stated. The good news is, with music this experimental, its really anything goes and there is no "right" speed.

The etchings on side A of Violetta clearly say "33 1/3 & 45" so I don't know how else to interpret it besides playing the locked groove at 33 1/3 and switching up to 45 for Mnemosyne. The oud (or something) and flute sample sounds perfect at 45, but it's definitely got a different feel since the tempo is a little kicked up compared to their other stuff. Incredible release.
