This song is amazingly addicting the very start of house music

My copy reveals dark brown translucent coloured vinyl when held up to the light.

Really, why so expensive? I have this record and was looking to sell to a local wax trax. Is that a realistic price to ask for? This is the most expensive EP so far that I have seen.

Do you still have it? I live by Wax Trax ;)

Larry Heard self-distributed this and sold around 20,000 copies. He decided to sign with Trax afterwards so his tracks could be more widely heard.

I read that same interview that quoted the 20,000 figure for copies of Mystery of Love on Alleviated; and often wondered where all the copies were?Years later I asked a friend in Chicago and he reliably informed me that no there were definitely never 20,000 copies of the Alleviated pressing. More like 200 he said!Perhaps it was typo error in the article I read?

Ok, I was going by an interview with Larry Heard. Maybe Larry got a bit mixed up or just wanted to big himself up a little.

HAHA!!...There were only about 400 to 500 copies pressed on this label which were all sold to one record store, Imports Etc.!!My friend, Benji Espinoza of DJ International Records meet Larry Heard at Imports Etc. the day Larry sold all of the original pressing and work out a deal to get Larry and Robert Owens signed to DJ International.

The DJ international press sold 30,000+ for which Larry received no royalties apart from his initial advance. Hence his move to Trax - where exactly the same thing happened again. (This info is all in the sleeve notes for the double Fingers Inc. LP 'Another Side') I doubt more than 500/1000 copies of 'Mystery' were pressed on Alleviated, even 1000 seems high based on how few come to the resale market. The B-Side on the Alleviated pressing - the dub - is exclusive to this 12", later to reappear on The Loft box set compilation.

20.000 copies ? That's rich, somehow only 62 of those ended up on discogs then I suppose.
