Notes

While there is no date on the album cover or inner labels, the catalog number falls between a Louis Armstrong album and a release by The Guess Who which were both released by Musidisc in 1974.

So the album is recorded in France right? Did is possible that Michel Fugain Co-writen a title on it? The title "Ozan Koukle" have vocal on it who seems to be a Fugain's signature sound (make of "lalalala"). This is the era when Fugain was popular in France. I say that because the vocals really have a French signature. From my french ears!

Here is an album that harkens back to the two albums this band recorded under the name The Lafayette Afro Rock Band; Soul Makossa and Malik. The similarities are not only in the musical style of afro-jazz-rock but also in the fact that many of the song titles are African sounding. While there seems to be no date on this album, my best guess would be circa 1973/4 as the recording date. I have seen it listed on the internet as 'released in 1973', but that seems perhaps too early considering the fact that we know Each Man Makes His Destiny is a 1973 release and the fact that after only that one album under the name Ice, they changed their name to The Lafayette Afro Rock Band for their next 2 albums. These are all very solid compositions with the excellent rhythms and soloing found on their first 4 albums. For those unfamiliar, their first album was recorded in 1972 using the name Ice. It has different titles depending on the continent it was released on; Ice in the USA and Each Man Makes His Destiny in Europe. For their 2nd and 3rd albums, Soul Makossa and Malik respectively, they changed the band name to The Lafayette Afro Rock Band. Their 4th album entitled either Import/Export in the USA or Frisco Disco in Europe was made under the band name Ice. This album, Afro Agban (The Afro-Instrumental LP), was most likely recorded during the sessions for either or both Soul Makossa and Malik. This is perhaps their best album overall, with the pieces stretching out into Jazz Rock territory.
