Paul Whiteman started out on Victor in the early 1920s. His 78s probably sold more for Victor than any other single artist. He joined Decca for a while just after they started up, and eventually moved to Capitol. This 10" LP (recorded and released in 1956 or so) is unique, in that it is a high-fidelity (tho' MONO) recreation of his original "hot" dance band. And does it ROCK, STOMP, and SWING ! I'm amazed that no one has (to my knowledge) transferred it to commercial CD. My copy is in excellent condition and I'd be happy to share transfers.

I agree - this is a fabulous record, though I knew nothing about the artists and bought the LP purely on spec at an op shop. Lots of great dance music from this era, but yes, this one really shines. Thanks for the info.
