Excellent first review of "Machinst" from THE NEW NOISE (Italy)http://www.thenewnoise.it/primeval-genius-machinist-in-the-underworld/by Massimiliano MercurioPrimeval Genius is the project of Anupadaka Godchild (real name Laura Jean Housley), a young and unknown (for now) girl of South Carolina. Began composing music in 2011 at the age of 19, and with much patience finally gets her moment, embodied by this early work. Machinist In The Underworld is at first interesting and full of ideas. It comes in a tasty cobalt blue vinyl, limited edition of 300 copies from the old American label - Suitcase. Although there is a good dose of synthetic exceedingly weird parts - we are entering in the sonic territory of Mater Suspiria Vision and the visuals similar to the covers Phantasma Disques, this disc has two faces. Side A is the modern witch-house ("Mile Of Shit") that gives a nod to the old French coldwave ("Horns Of Ram"), which features vocals of strong toxicity, Lydia Lunch as a reference here, though perhaps not it is the most accurate description. It continues with witchcraft and paths of minimal-wave electro-dark eighties (read Sweden, Njurmännen or Brunst), then finishes and sinks into the abyss with the torments of the title track. The B side, however, borrows the acidity of Blood & Roses, the rot of Specimen, Batcave and the dark and soft atmospheres of Kommunity FK. Mix the ingredients, and there you have a new variant darkwave of the third millennium, plasticky and Gothic, the one with the voice cursed, damned, and even industrial, that magic, that interacts with the dark matter of the universe ("Queen Of Space "). This scenario is what Anupadaka Godchild defines and explains with the term astralspheric music, that is to say ... the interdimensional ambassador of the astral cosmos (her words). If her idea / concept of sound is this, for me it's fine. It may be, because, anyway, it's like a casino. A great start, age plays in her favor. Hope is not lost on the street.
