I'm going to disagree with current public opinion and state that I feel that this is the weakest of the three "Acid Trax" compilations. While I do believe that it still deserves a strong four stars out of five, I don't think it deserves a five, unlike the faultless first two albums. Most tracks are excellent, but a few of the tracks are only good, but not great. It also loses marks by wasting an entire side of vinyl on a mix which is available elsewhere (how difficult could it have been to ask a DJ to create a new, exclusive mix?), shamelessly changing the title of it and providing a false track timing to further hide their dishonesty! That said, due to the number of exclusives on here, it's still an essential release. I have tons of this stuff, but if you're new to this era of music, get the first two albums first, as well as the "House Hallucinates" LP. Oh, and while you're at it, pick up the debut LPs by 808 State and Baby Ford as well - both of which are grossly underrated and ignored.

Hands down the fave acid house compilation out there. Bought this aged 14 & had no idea what would come of it. I'd become obsessed with Acid Smileys after seeing them on badges & people's T-Shirts, took my pocket money into HMV & bagged a copy. It turned out to be the start of a love affair... And a lifelong fall from grace :-) 'Slave To Love' is a deep acid classic, 'Desire' remains one of my favorite acid cuts of all time, 'Acid Pop' bubbles on with some tweaky funk, & Maurice Joshua's 'On The Other Side' needs no introduction... So many evil & lesser known pure acid cuts. One of the best offshoot Trax style Acid compilations, in fact if I had to choose one, this would be it. Much of the content here is not available anywhere else, making this essential fodder.

The Keep Smiling Medley Mix is the same as the B side of https://www.discogs.com/Various-Acid-Trax-Megamix-Volume-1/master/85250And the length is wrong, should be 18.20

Tantil
Hi, only side D is mixed. The rest are all full length unmixed tunes.

Reemiel
I am wondering if this is this a mixed compilation or unmixed? Many thanks mate

Glad to see people catching up on this! A mere five years ago and this still was in the dungeon of forgotten memories of Chicago House. Well, of course this isn't just about Chicago, but still, when you consider the nature of the Maurice Joshua exclusive featured there (IMHO his best and wildest track ever), it makes this compilation an absolute must-have for every true Chi house heads! The Love Story'Extasy is also absolutely wonderfull, obscure and exclusive.

It's advertised as being available on CD on the back cover, but I'm certain it wasn't...the bastards!p.s. if you click on 'Six Brown Brothers' it tells you it's Van Christie - don't think it is - pretty sure it's Spanky & DJ Pierre...

Vrion
You're correct sir.

Vudozilkree
the full mix on side D is done by double trouble. Hope it helps

I tried to get this on tape as a kid, but the store had sold out and I never saw it till about 15 years later at a boot sale for 50p. Even then I only have 1 record out of 2 (Sides C+D missing). The consolation is that what I do have contains one of the best 80's Acid tracks there is, Love story by Exstasy. Arranged around a simple deep acid bassline with only the kick drums to support it, its a real eerie acid track. It's shame as I don't know who actually created this, no writer credit was ever given on the sleeve. The only other stand out track is Maurice Joshua's The other side, a vocal track with a great hook that works so well. Some day I hope to find a complete version of this and find out, just who Exstasy were. Until then I give it 4/5

Opilar
Just wanted to add that, I'm sorry to say, you're missing out on two bomb tracks, Anti-Acid and Slo Mo Acid. Anti-Acid has a very deep bass bottom-out on the 4th beat of every measure with a slow-building, creeping, sinewy acid line. Slo Mo Acid is an 8-minute stormer, still rock solid after 23 years, that you could mix right into Walker/Essit Musique/Mike Ink/early Hawtin.
