"I recorded the music in this cd in the summer of 2000 in the Himalayas...a beautiful place called the 'Valley of the Gods'. It is said that the great sage Vyaas who wrote the spiritual epic of India called the Bhagavad Gita (or Song Celestial) wrote it in this spot. Though the title of the cd is "Prayers", these are not prayers to anything or anyone separate from that Self, or infinite power that alone is. These stotrams and bhajans (long and short prayers) all honour the very deepest aspects of our inner magnificence and glory - depicted in a myriad of different forms as deities (gods and goddesses) but nevertheless point us to the Source of all manifestations - to our true essence, which is One consciousness which never gets divided...Sat-Chitt-Aanand.

These chants are the expression of my heart, and I am thankful to Swami Shyam and my years of the study with him at the International Meditation Institute in the Himalayas. He always pointed my attention to follow each sound, each note to its source of absolute silence. Om shaantih...Om peace.
