A 12" four track record with it's pulsing heart set on Dance-Floor Domination. The first track "Bstomp" starts off with taped voice which breaks into a medium-paced electro-beat throbbing thing. Not satisfied with the tempo, they click it up to about double speed for a piece of music which should get the EBM / TECHNO fraternity up and moving. It's not simplistic and repetitive as much of this type of music, but manages to put a lot of interesting variety into the strict beat/rhythm vertebrae making this a superior-sounding piece of Body Music. It reminds me a little of FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, only far superior. "Grinder2" uses a medium-fast-paced rhythm with elements of 808 STATE in it (ie. the rhythmic CASIO sounds). A female voice orates a short poem which should render paedophiles incapable of dancing any more. The 'B' side opens with "Deus" which has a huge heavy and pounding sound which threatens to rise up and engulf the listener in it's immense noise. It has elements of SKINNY PUPPY while being far more musically constructed. You really have to hear the colossal density of this track to appreciate it. "T1:8" finishes the EP off with a similar gutsy offering, although this is less an opaque wall of dance-noise - it has depth as well as power, and keeps the pace going at an exaggerated jog.On evidence of this EP alone, I'd say that SHOCK CORRIDOR were a force to be reckoned with and, if they can keep this power & vitality and actually improve on it, they could conceivably be up there with the big names it the scene. This may well become a collectable piece of vinyl, so do yourself a favour....Originally reviewed for Soft Watch.
