Radioshow--Purple' is a lean, throttling piece of post-alternative hard rock. STP doesn't rely simply on riffs, although there is a fair share of killer hooks; the band writes songs, where the melodies and chords intertwine, becoming inseparable. From the brooding ballad "The Big Empty" to the simple, pounding fuzzy riffs of "Vasoline", the group improved in every facet - their songs are stronger and their playing is more convincing and powerful
