One of the most fundamental steps in heavy sounds transformation process is represented by Melvins career. King Buzzo band was capable to mould distortion as it was clay, generating a changing music (psychotic development of Black Sabbath, Black Flag and Swans ideas) that will be the mother of (at least!) two decades of alternative metal. While grunge rock - one of the first son of Melvins creativity - is exploding, Buzz band published Bullhead. A ball of mud that rolls in slow motion, disposing itself with its dilated and exhausted guitar drones. A narcotic wall of sound with Dale Crover irregular rhythmic: sometimes martial, sometimes epileptic. Perfect combination of contrasts (irony and depression, fun and schizophrenia, energy and stasis), Bullhead demonstrates versatility of heavy sounds, when handled by creative minds.
