What the hell is going on with those low ratings? Damage Control is one of the greatest albums in electronic music at the moment. Such a colourful spectrum of sounds, as the album cover shows, but still got that "Mat Zo signature" sound in them. I just don't care about "it's not trance, Mat sold himself out" and other stupid snob blahblahs.. Come on people, open your eyes, stucking at only one thing is a real waste of time. Be happy that Mat didn't pick up that plastic SHM-bigroom sound...

And what"s up with "Lucid Dreams"?? Definitely that"s the most emotionally uplifting track on the album

It's not the lack of trance. The songs really aren't that interesting and they're mostly meat-and-potatoes of other rather tired subgenres. They're bland and uninventive and they clash horribly and sometimes it's as if he took Discovery, chopped it up, added some FX and processing and spat it out. The only interesting ones are EZ, Hurricane, and Caller ID. As a DJ, everything other than those three is crate-fodder, yeah they're staple, but they don't make you stop raging and take notes. And he doesn't leave any motifs to string the tracks together. I literally heard dark, menacing, Asian-inspired dub right after a bouncy, clubby French house number. Chase & Status has more continuity in their albums and that's saying a lot. No, just no. He may be something novel for the repetitious Anjunabeats, but not for the wider electronic world.
