An Interesting Release. This is quite an interesting release, i must say. Most of these tracks have a very similar style of arrangement, Goa trance with a more progressive element. To be honest, i don't agree with the sticker on the fron "100% Pure Goa Trance", this is basically carefully selected minor scales, fiddling and filtering around with a trusty Roland JD-800, and some other bits and bops given at own touch. Moving on with the review, the first track is actually quite nice! The bassline gets a tad annoying and somewhat minimal, lead synths filtering around and entrancing, hard doof kick, i really like the bit near the end with the really nice indian sounding percussion, a brilliant touch to the track. Next track, "Liquid Moon" is also pretty solid; slightly more intense and energetic, also somewhat sticking to the same formula with tons and tons and tons of filtering, good track though. Track 3, "Ornaments Of Dust" is pretty energetic, an interesting kickdrum mix down and arrangment, very trippy effecting and filtering with enhanced resonance for a squelchy psychedelic sound, really entrances you and makes you think, "Woah". This track is pretty good actually, beutiful breakdown near the end, 3 good tracks so far! "Solar Planet" has a great deal of depth, first thing i noticed. I don't know, but i think this unique style is getting a tad bland, very similar melodies, tons of filtering and at times, slightly weak atmosphere. Pretty minimal track, same sorta progression all the way thru, can be okay but i dont think it was arranged right to fit it. Track 5, "Crystal Forest" is nothing short of a master piece really, definitely the best track on the whole album. Soft, atmospheric start with swirling resonated high passed saws, percussion circling round, whilst acid is enveloping in and out, with a deep bass. Suddenly a kick roll, then the kick goes in full gear, things get more serious and energetic, fierce open hihat, simple bass line sounding more unique than previous tracks. Progression element is very strong here, it's progressing very steadily. As things his the 3:40 mark, things hit the peak. The most amazing melody i've heard, really a spectacular, energetic, intense, uplifting melody. The thing is it's incredibly simple too, but damn it really goes it for me. Track slowly progresses out and then kicks back in eventually. Amazing track. The rest of the tracks will just have me saying similar, maybe somewhat more negative things than i did with the first 4. Overall this album is very very interesting. A very unique style of arrangement containing influences from progressive trance, a great deal of filtering as well. Melodies were sounding very boring, boring because, they were so similar to each other. But i really really favour "Crystal Forest". Amazing melody at the peak, and just a great track. I recommend checking this album out, it may be somewhat difficult to get a hold of, but i think you might be impressed, but i also have a feeling that alot of purists may be un impressed. But i sure know for a fact that it's a pretty solid album and i quite like it. After this, J. Anderson (Solar Plexus) seemed to of disappear off the face of the earth. Unfortunate really, alot of talent for sure. Best tracks 1, 2, 5 (!), 7
