Having been into the "nu/dubstep / grime / garage oder whatever you want to call it" sound for a while now, I was getting the feeling that the snake was starting to bite its tail: lazy copies of proven concepts instead of (nu-)steps forward. This tune reinsures me in the fact that innovation and sincerity is still in the scene. Pure pleasure for your hears and for you stomach. One problem for DJs thought, the quality of this production makes it really hard to play anything else after it's hit the turntables. I guess that's the reason why it's called war dub. Get it!

This thing called 'dubstep' just keeps turning me on, and it's releases like this which make it worthwhile. DJ Pinch & P Dutty provide the listener with one of the most gut wrenching bass maneuvers that's had the good luck to be pressed onto vinyl at 45rpm. War Dub is pure unadulterated machine filth that combines the aesthetics of industrial, dub and experimentalism with a heavy dose of rude bwoy swaggering and thick grey/white skunk smoke. This is scary, no, REALLY scary stuff, that you feel as well as hear. Sub low frequencies vie for your attention as the lurching drums attempt to suck you in like a helpless planet into a black hole. Alien Tongue meanwhile enlists the ever popular Brazilian berimbau and some nifty African drum licks for an excursion into the murky depths of throbbing basslines that have a seriously heavy phunk. I really, really urge people who haven't got this release to hunt it down and scare yourself shitless. This is undoubtedly a release that is at the forefront of the dubstep genre; riding high with Kode9, Vex'd, Digital Mystikz, the Tempa crew and Hot Flush.
