Jeronashe
This is the first (and only) version of "Voices Inside My Head" to be released on 12" while the band were still together. The track can also be found on Zenyatta Mondatta which came out the same year. The track was used so much in disco sets of the early 80s and house sets of the late 80s that it was copied and covered numerous times. The most notable of these was, of course, the Common Sense cover version released in the same year as it was released by the Police, namely 1980. Then much later another fantastic version (and one ideal for mixing) was heard throughout clubs in the early nineties. It was by KC Flightt. It was the popularity of this version that inspired The Police themselves to re-issue the song, this time featuring remixes from the likes of Ashley Beadle, DJ Harvey, Roger Sanchez and E-Smoove. And why is a record by The Police (of all bands) such a hit in the clubs? Well, first of all anything mentioning voices inside your head while you're dancing your ass of is bound to be cool and secondly, well....maybe you just have to hear it yourself to know.
