There is a warmth to this release along with a mystical vibe that feels right on the evolutionary arc for the year 2001. This is very special. Too bad that so few were inspired by it and carried the torch. Mediocrity, sadly, won out. Til we meet again Cosma....on a dance floor light years away. Thanks for this gift.

I can only agree with the other reviewer, this is a great album. I am currently ripping all my old cds to wave and so have the opportunity to revisit some of them. This was definitely my album of the year back in 2001 for psychedelic trance. It was ahead of its time. To those just discovering it it may be hard to imagine just how mind-blowing it was when it first came out. There was nothing else like it. The first CD I heard that made a push toward the progressive psychedelic sound that has become popular today. Interestingly enough it was his first album and every track is still very listenable. Of course production standards have changed. It would be awesome if someone brought this up to current production standards like Haldolium has done with their most recent release "repainted". Sad that Cosma had to pass away in a car accident he was certainly one of the genuine creative forces in the psychedelic scene.

I love Discogs. If it wasn't for this site I probably would never have discovered this guy, and this album.I downloaded it a few weeks ago based solely on the reviews of Cosma's other album 'Nonstop' (which is also excellent) and a few of them recommended 'Simplicity' as well. I've only just gotten around to listening to it.From the first track I was mesmerised. As someone who is not generally a big fan of the whole high energy full on sound (don't know why but I find the 'rolling' bassline really annoying most of the time), this album is a breath of fresh air. Floaty, spacey, understated melodies, bassliines that are interesting and rounded but never in-your-face. It reminded me a little of another of my favourite albums, Blue Planet Corporation's 'Blue Planet', with echoes of Jaia's 'Blue Energy', and to a lesser degree even Vibrasphere's 'Archipelago'. Having said that, 'Simplicity' always feels original and innovative. There are a few spoken samples to be found too, but Cosma uses them sparingly and to great effect. The one that brought an instant smile to my face is found in 'Human Evolution', an instantly recognisable cut from the first X-men movie. Cosma also uses human vocals quite liberally, but in a way that they sound like another musical instrument blending with the rest of the track, rather than actual singing. Rest assured there's not a hint of cheese to be found here.Cosma's style is like the anti-Filteria, which in my book is a good thing. Infact, anyone looking for that kind of unrelenting head-pounding, pneumatic-drill-in-your-eardrums kind of psytrance, this album is definitely not for you. However, if you want something understated but never dull, intelligent but never hard work, and simply downright beautiful in places, you've come to the right place. Trust me, you need this album.
