Assuming I'm correct, "Black Sun 1999" actually IS an "official Space:1999 recording". It's from the 1976 "Space:1999" soundtrack LP released by RCA & is one of two titles from that album named for a "Space:1999" episode (the other track is called "Earth Sound"...meaning "Earthbound"?) but had a different composer & was never used in the series. Why RCA selected these tracks is beyond me. I mean, there was a LOT more of Barry Grays' score to more-than-fill an LP! Still, to this day, it remains one of my Top 10 favorite soundtracks & is well worth owning a copy! Highly recommended!!

Although the track in question states all credits to Barry Gray, the Barry Gray estate denies Barry had anything to do with the disco theme, only the score of music using the same title BLACK SUN, an episode from Space 1999.
