There is one man to whom every young singer on today's popular-music charts owes a lot. He's the guy who brought the fabulous "soul" sound to pop music- THE ONE AND ONLY SAM COOKE.

Sam's very personal style-infused with the power and spirit from his Gospel-singing days-brought him straight up to the top. Starting with his first huge smash, You Send Me, Sam put hit after hit high on the charts until his untimely death in 1964.
