This album is knarly as fuck. Rather than just staying within the somewhat narrow parameters of the classic 80s acid sound re-hashed like many contemporaries using 303s and vintage drum machines, Jared Wilson displays a unique, expansive sound on this release. Although he works in the acid style, he is not conservative at all. He's layering elements that you don't often hear used together, to great effect. For instance, in a single track he might employ a nasty bassline that sounds straight out '90s Green Velvet, a moody deep house organ-like patch and raucous, busy techno drum programming--all with a nice 303 line coming in and out--and amazingly it all works! He breaks little rules here and there, and I applaud it.This producer keeps growing as an artist and his music keeps maturing. This release really impresses me. There's not a bad track on it. Just listen to "Ghostminer 3" (C1) and try to keep from moving--that groove is banging, sexy and deep, too.
