This collection of material spans a wide spectrum of quality, completeness, and elegance. It originally began as the recording session for Gift Of Screws, Lindsey's intended follow up to Out Of The Cradle. As time progressed, it became evident that his plans would be altered. To Try For The Sun, Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind, and Down On Rodeo saw their releases on Lindsey's fourth solo album, Under The Skin. My Little Demon made a live appearance on Fleetwood Mac's The Dance and then disappeared into the past. She Smiled Sweetly was released on his sixth solo album, Seeds We Sow. The other tracks remain unreleased in the official market. The main characteristic of this release is it's staircase-like approach to the track listing. First you will hear the raw demos, some of which are so hissy and distorted that enjoying them is a daunting task. Following the demos is the semi-complete master. Dedicated fans will find this an interesting album to listen to for that reason. It fails to give you the final overproduced product. Instead you hear the song being constructed much as a painting comes together at the hands of a painter. Lindsey truly is a painter of sound.
