This compilation has been done with the utmost care and is one of the very best of its type. Every track here is a winner with no filler material and mastered from the Salsoul archive mastertapes. Encompasing Salsoul's output that was picked up by Northern Soul DJs and collectors and made their own. 'Janice' only came out in 1981 to a largely indifferent public that had moved away from Disco around the time of the closure of Wigan Casino closure, but stormed venues like Blackpool Mecca; later being a regular at many smaller '90's NS 'revival' events in the North. Many of the other records are earlier, with a few 12" versions thrown in. This release is sheer class and head and shoulders above most similar compilations of largely post 1976 Northern and Modern Soul.
