The Fables Of Belovodye is the third album by the Russian duo, which has become one of the greatest acts in the post-2005 psychill scene. Although hokum is still one of the weakest point of the duo's music, this is the first time the album has such a rich texture with many braintwisting effects and heartwarming melodies that the listener simply doesn't recognise the arty side. From the beginning to the end the album has an excellent structure in dynamism, fast-after-slow works perfectly. Sometimes I felt the lack of the deeper ambient intermezzos, but I could hear some amazing voice samples telling Russian tales in exchange. I love these voice samples from old Russian fairy tale movies. The whole album has this vibe of being in thefairy tale surrounding by scary creatures, strong knits and beautiful princesses somewhere in old medievaltimes someplace in Siberia. Beautiful chillout release by Koan.
