This was supposed to be released as a double album with 7 tracks. I just added the test pressing to Discogs: El Saxofón. This version was rejected by the record company, and it was released as single vinyl album with 4 tracks. The three other tracks remained unreleased (as far as I know).

I love the two albums Hans Dulfer And Ritmo Natural made a year before this one. Now, they are awesome freaky psych jazz involving members of Group 1850, Ahora Mazda and the future Focus guitar wizard Jan Akkerman on one of them, amongst other luminaries. But this one is just jazz and in keeping with the title is much more geared to the saxophone and all gets a bit much for me, particularly on the tracks featuring Frank Wright.BTW some places list this as a Hans Dulfer And Ritmo Natural album, but it is not at all!

if you don't know who Hans Dulfer is, first know he is a monster on his instrument. This great album is spirit jazz, El Saxopfon is like the soundtrack to a latino film noir written by Carlos Castenada about Peyote eating snakes and hypnotic spirit voices….. and who the fuck is Hans Dulfer? He's blowing my mind…and can this guy screech …madone….conjured the spirits of Pharaoh Sanders, Roland Kirk and Gato Barbieri…….very tripped out stuff…
