Hearing this in '84 in the UK was a revelation. If you were a fan of US and other international hardcore and fed up of pedestrian UK82 turgidness this was finally the UK's 1st band to play US style HC. Sure, other UK bands played fast (Disorder, Varukers (Another Religion...), Legion Of Parasites, Anti System et al) and by '84 UK hardcore was 'getting there' but this Stupids tape sounded like it was from the US. Musically it was head and shoulders above other UK bands - faster, tighter, less sloppy, razor sharp, more nimble and lacking any heaviness or stodge. So much of this was evident in Tommy's drumming and vocals and the overall level of (non metal!) musical ability. And they were 16!
