2. labels are cream-coloured, with just a typed 'SIDE ONE' and 'SIDE TWO'

"THE FIRST FAREWELL TOUR 1973"

The first edition of this album contained 'Rebel Rebel' at the end of Side One and 'Panic In Detroit' at the beginning of Side Two. First edition says 'His First Farewell Tour'. All subsequent editions have those two songs deleted and says 'The First Farewell Tour 1973', as well as the Number Two in a voice bubble extending from the shoe in the upper corner.*

The bootlegger has added a 2"40' narrated intro by Louise Huebner before track 'B1: Time' entitled 'Orgies A Tool For Witchcraft'.

Info I got from 'a true conoisseur' I think it's useful to post it here:The first edition released in 1974 had two extra tracks: Rebel Rebel and Panic In Detroit. Came with inserts in various colors. This edition is extremely rare. The second edition: minus the 2 extra tracks. Also released in 1974. Came with inserts in various colors and the mark 2 in the left top corner.Later on the bootlegger started to use printed on covers, using the designs of the old inserts and the new standard back on all releases. So, the third printed on release also had the 2 on the cover.

The gig was notorious, probably apocryphal though, for its highly charged sexual atmosphere. Allegedly couples were making out, boys masturbating and girls giving head; all in full view of other audience members. This probably explains why the bootlegger, with a sense of humour, added the 'Orgy' narration on at the start of side two before 'Time', a track itself that doesn't shy away from sexual imagery with its, "Falls wanking to the floor", line for instance. (How that shocked dear mama when she first heard Aladdin Sane!). There are also two other flashes of humour at the end of each side where the creator has directly lifted two questions probably from a sex manual record. Respectively one goes, "....bisexuals cannot be trusted or even close friends. True or false?'' and the other''...the average size of a fully erect penis is 18 inches. True or false?''. This may sound a bit puerile on just reading this but it is in keeping with the zeitgeist and the feel of the record. The album itself whilst a little rough around the edges sound wise is far superior in my opinion to the official, heavily studio overdubbed, version released years later. What it sometime loses in quality is made up for in its raw power, energy and excitement. Note that on 'Suffragette City' when it comes to the, ''Wham bam thank you mam" sequence this is a direct lift from 'Ziggy' probably because Bowie became inaudible at this point due to the audience screaming the line back so the bootlegger has inserted the overdub. Overall and ace bootleg and a must have for a true connoisseur.

It was my understanding that this version of the gig was taken from a TV broadcast and that the overdubs were clunky repairs to censored lyrics - the title line in Rock'N'Roll Suicide is also overdubbed from the studio album track. The word 'suicide' is actually cut from All The Young Dudes without repair. Seems the censor was too slow on the button to prevent 'Bitch' getting through on Moonage Daydream and, curiously, allowed 'wanking' through on Time. But that's the nature of censorship - dumb and inconsistent. With all it's faults, though, I agree this version of the show has balls to spare compared with the emasculated official release.
