The Icelandic trio of Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, Helgi Thorsson and Heimir Björgúlfsson (now just the former two) have been doing everything modern and digital longer than most. Tracks like 'Please Explain!' are precursors to CoH's rhythmic and accessible song-length pieces, while a logical extension of 'Reduce By Reducing' would bring you directly to eRikm's most recent works of digital sampling.Stilluppsteypa's more recent work, often in collaboration with BJ Nilsen, while pretty, is not as structurally interesting as their more obscure records from the early to mid 1990s. They exhibited restraint and dexterity in a decade where such tact was rare (at least outside of Japan). Reduce By Reducing is a great introduction to that era.
