The origins of this compilation began over four years ago and we are quite happy to see it out and about, living a life of it's own, and making friends for WUSB 90.1FM wherever it goes... Upon playing you'll notice a gumbo of styles and sounds that is deliberate. The album's intention is to reflect the vision WUSB has long embraced for our 26 years and counting: an enthusiastic desire to explore and promote diversity, creativity and originality. The initial concept was to release a record of local Long Island bands to benefit WUSB. Almost from the start though it became exceedingly clear that we did not have to go beyond our station doors. The resounding talent of radio programmers both established and aspiring, ranks among the keenest on Long Island. You certainly can't get more local than that. How fitting that many of your favorite DJs not only play music on-the- air, but off-the -air as well. That passion runs deep. The interests don't end there either; the photos, graphics, and paintings found on these pages are by staffers too (and one family friend!)
You see, we programmers endeavor to be adventurous and multifaceted as WUSB-FM itself and "not just a another pretty voice".

This album is dedicated to all our faithful WUSB-FM Listeners and those everywhere whose desire enriches the journey and in memory of our cherished family and friends who have gone on before us. May their goodness bless our own and may we all work that much harder for peace and community to honor the many who have inspired us. - MAD
