This collection represents the first phase of O.R.E. where recordings where all done on a 4 track reel to reel tape deck with "sound on sound" functionality. This allowed for multi-tracking via "bouncing" from one set of stereo tracks to another while adding new audio source with each bounce. You lay down a drum track and then bounce the drum over to the other tracks while adding a bass, then bounce those back to the first two tracks and add a guitar. You can do this indefinitely, but it's not recommended since you lose clarity and gain noise with each bounce. The first tracks get muddier and noisier as they bounce back and forth. It was usually a good idea to keep it to 3 or four bounces and try to get as much recorded in each bounce as possible. Even with these primitive (by today's standard) recording techniques, there's a surprising degree of clarity in these recordings. They're also quite crazy with lots of experimentation and throwing stuff against walls to see if it sticks.

This material was recorded between January and May of 1984. It was remastered from reel to reel and cassette analogue sources to digital media in 2001.
