As you may have already guessed this is certainly not the best compilation money can buy even though in all fairness it’s cheap. Artistically it doesn’t help either since it isn’t much of an eye candy. However there seems to be some concept behind this release since tracks are listed inside as being from 1991 up to 1998 so it seems the intention was a ‘walk in time’ even though the flow isn’t exactly coherent due to a very random track selection. So the concept in theory is nice but it fails.First of all the tempo of the tracks is quite low, so much that this is more of a relaxed CD despite being a Trance/Techno release mainly. Second the tracks vary a lot in style, from House to Techno, from Prog-Trance to Goa and to Acid. Somewhere in between there is the classic ‘Sacred Cycles’, the epic Prog-trancer from the good old ’94. Tempo-wise it fits quite well here however style-wise it still clashes. It has also appeared a score of times elsewhere so certainly if you want that track you won’t buy this CD for it.However for the CD only Goa people there is one lure here – the MOS track. This track has something really majestic and is easily the best track they ever did; or the deepest one. Elsewhere it is known to have appeared only on the ridiculously rare and expensive Survival Of The Trippest - Part II so Timewalk is the only CD you can get it for little and still in full length. This is the most up-tempo track, which falls just below the average Goa trance pace. It is followed from none less but the Techno legend Johannes Heil with a track which is rated very high like all his stuff but which somehow I don’t dig. Again is a complete clash with the previous track. I rather prefer the following track, number 9, which is exclusive. Nothing remarkable but I dig that acid line with the mid-tempo beat.So to sum up, there is nothing much except the MOS track to look for here. However if you want a relaxed Techno/Trance compilation with some House influence which you can play in the background and even while talking with family members this works; up to a point.
