Working in a record shop after school I heard this album upon release and bought it immediately. Russ Garcia was always a favorite of mine as a teen aged jazz fan and as a budding young trumpeter I loved the trumpet solos on this album clearly performed by the highly underrated and overlooked Don Fagerquist. Dave Pell, the outstanding tenor player has written online (see DavePell.com) that when Les Brown was editing the recordings from his stand at the Hollywood Palladium circa 1953 he remarked to Dave, "You know I never liked Fagerquist at the time but now, listening to him ten hours a day I see what a wonderful trumpeter he was." (freely paraphrased). But Garcia and Fagerquist are just icing on the cake with this album as The Axidentals take center stage with superlative vocal performances. Sadly they weren't very prolific. One of the forgotten, by most, vocal groups of the fifties but without question one of the best. This album receives six stars out of a possible five from this fan.Joe M. HayesDel Mar, CA
