Super-rare and totally obscure single by the mysterious David Johnson. Most likely a vanity press. He had another single in '85 called Into Arcadia but that is better documented. Imperial London is his best. No one knows about this record - it doesn't appear anywhere else, nobody has ever heard it and nobody wants it. The song and production are really strong. It's a bit like a lo-fi Jesus & Mary Chain. It has a sort of 'epic' quality about it.I was sent this record around 1986, along with his other 7", and another weird record by The Almighty Masked Avenger.The letter that came with the record states that David Johnson was originally from Leicester but is now (at the time of writing) resident in Chichester and playing with a band called The Sawdust Caesers with someone called Bart Ives.Both Bart and D Johnson were at a Polytechnic in London for 'half the week' and flogged these discs at gigs around the city.That concludes all I know about David Johnson (19).
