Notes

A comprehensive visual document spanning the history of Galaxie 500. The 2-disc DVD set is a compendium of all their music videos, a rare TV appearance and an archive of over 40 songs performed live, including 2 unreleased songs (1-7 & 1-8).

Also contains a booklet with exclusive photos and an interview with all three band members, conducted by Yo La Tengo's James McNew.

Total running time: 3 hours 55 minutes.

The first 500 preordered copies sold by the label directly via mail order came with an exclusive 7" vinyl record, supposedly not available individually. Both tracks recorded live on March 30 1990.

By the time of the live recording for these songs, and the final filming of the show in 1991, Galaxie 500 had been playing nonstop, and were in fine form. It’s just too bad that the band wasn’t meant to last, but don’t let those internal rivalries get you down, this historic three piece combo was about to step through the door and become the stuff of legend. Beginning in 2010, Dean Wareham began a world tour, preforming the music of Galaxie 500, backed by the Dean & Britta band. At times this band consisted of four members [Dean Wareham on lead guitar, Britta Phillips on bass, Matt Summrow on rhythm and effects, and Anthony LaMarca on drums, who would later be replaced by Jason Lawrence]. Beginning in March of 2010 the band was cut to three members to gather that original feel, with Dean saying that the music has much more difficult than he’d remembered for three people. Never the less, the music unfolds and flowers, washing memories of those original outings ... though I can claim to have seen Galaxie 500 but once, in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. This picture sleeve 45 RPM has been pressed on clear yellow vinyl, limited to an edition of 500 copies, and given away with the pre-order of the Galaxie 500 DVD, with the songs found here being taken from that recording ... “Snowstorm” was laid down on March 30th, 1990 at Club Lingerie, in Hollywood, California, and “Pictures” was taken from the show at The Point, in Atlanta, Georgia on January 26th, 1990.
