This version can be identified by the production credits on its labels, which erroneously credits all three producers on both sides. There is another version that credits Rojac label president Jack Taylor on both sides with only Robert Spencer on side A and only Bob Gallo on side B.

"Keep That Man" is a beautiful Stax-type deep soul ballad that in my opinion would have been more effective without the excessive orchestration that sets in after the first chorus. "Mama (He Treats Your Daughter Mean)" is of course a remake of Ruth Brown's 1953 hit. On this version not only is the backing track heavily funked up but Big Maybelle's raucous & commanding voice leaves you thinking: "hmmm...better not fool around with THIS lady or else you'll have to run for cover..."
