Sataxe

Excellent pressing! The music is full and dynamic (heh) with virtually no surface noise. Pressed on standard weight vinyl with hot pink printing on the labels. Very sexy.The sleeve is a thick gatefold with Robert Longo’s “Strong in Love” printed across both sides of the cover, so that the full image is visible when you unfold it. The inner gatefold features a bunch of hot pink firework’s with the band’s logo. The record sleeves are black and white paper sleeves featuring a collage of the album cover and band logo, with song credits.This is a must have for any Holy Ghost! fan.

Runehammer

Holy Ghost! plumbs a lot of the past, and on their first album their sound was like a more electronic Steely Dan. Their second calls back to early Erasure ("Okay", "In the Red"), Disco and the immediate Postdisco era before Electro ("Dumb Disco Ideas"), Italo Disco (the deceptively-sunny "Changing of the Guard"), 80s wuss rock ("It Must Be the Weather", "I Wanna Be Your Hand"), 80s Funk from right after everyone fired their horn sections ("Dance a Little Closer"), 80s Hi-NRG ("Bridge and Tunnel") and Europop ("Don't Look Down"). Not as original as their first album (and no Michael McDonald this time), and it really falls off at the end; "Bridge and Tunnel" is mediocre, and "Don't Look Down" is downright awful. Even the best few cuts ("Changing of the Guard", "Dance a Little Closer") aren't quite as good as the lesser cuts on album #1. Clever lyrics do not abound on Dynamics; I didn't expect the Pet Shop Boys, but 90% of this is rhyming dictionary territory. Seeing them live next month, hoping they go heavy on the first album and light on Dynamics, but I bet it's the other way round.
