AN EVENT IN MY NJS VINYL HUNTING JOURNEY ABOUT THE 12" THAT I WALKED AWAY FROM. About 12 years ago i was offered to buy a (PICTURE COVER 12" vinyl) from a very good friend who had a connection for rare 12" vinyl like no other & gave me first option to view her vinyl 12's. When u had a connection like i did in the early to mid 90's u were very lucky & thanx to her i have a nice NJS original releases 12"'s collection. The (PICTURE COVER 12") i was talking about suprisingly i knew nothing about at the time untill i heard it in a popular NJS club about a week or 2 after i had the offer to own it (KICKEN MYSELF!). *("PICTURE COVER") to FLEX-DOGGIE STYLE (12" VINYL) in mint condition ("PICTURE COVER"). I unfortunantely knocked it back & i'll never forget when i did knock it back the seller's shocked reaction with my desicion, if i may say with all honesty not bragging, i did know my NEWJACKSWING collectible & rare jams back then, obviously not enough & she knew me no different. I'll never forget when she told me how she couldn't beleive i didn't know this 12" & i didn't want it, she also told me if i don't buy it now it's basically sold to another NJS DJ/COLLECTOR which i also knew, & that should have been enough for me to purchase but i know now it just wasn't meant to be, mind u the NJS DJ's were only a hand full back then & all knew each other & were constantly trading vinyl more than buying & were known for how hard, rare & serious their NJS vinyl collections were & constantly in competition with each other about who had the rarest collection & who's the first to own & spin the "new" rare NJS 12" track release in their club on a particular weekend, dont forget keep in mind their was no internet back then like we have now which has made this experience a lot easier. Just 2 give u an idea why u were so respected as a NJS DJ when u were the first to own & play a rare 12" NJS track or a new 12" release in your club the word would get around pretty quik to the other DJ's that u played a particular track everyone's chasing because everyone in the new jack seen all new each other which was an experience that i highly apreciate & feel very fortunate that only the NEW JACK SWING era family around the world would know how special it was to have grown up & experienced NJS's start, rise & peak . My experience all happened in Sydney Australia where i still live, this is where all this unforgettable "NJS" journey & many others took place. In the early to mid 90's trying to be a NJS collector in Sydney we didn't have the luxury of being swamped with 12" releases imported or receive them the same time as other country's like, U.S.A, U.K & europe, not only were we about 2 to 3 months late, we always had what at the time felt like we got left over 12's & that's with out saying what never made it to our record shops at all & only heard about from someone in the game & record shop's too weren't providing us "NJS junkies" with really what we were after they were more top 40 but did get better in time "RESPECT" it wasn't what we were after at the time. One or two DJ's took the next step & a smart step it was because it changed the NJS 12" experience all together. It would have been in the rise of the NJS era the early 90's one or two DJ'S would go overseas for a record hunt & come back with double or triple copy's of some 12" vinyl's rare records & the trading & purchasing of a wanted 12" vinyl would go to big extremes. When any of the DJ's heard that a copy of a 12" their after was available they wern't even thinking anymore, they would make offers that were insane, i still clearly remember a few DJ's back then on more than one ocassion would swap their own TECHNICS SL1200 or 1210 DECK for only one 12" vinyl that they wanted & then go back out the same week & pay just over, "AUS $1200" for a brand new SL1200 or 1210 as long as they owned that 12" they wanted. Going back to the top of this journey, 1.she had offered it 2 me first. 2.even then it was known to be very rare. 3.The best part was i was in the NJS's prime time jams/early to mid 90's & i was collecting NJS jams obsessively. 4.I gave it back & moved on with absolutely no clue what i had just let go. The point i wanted to make was i have never ever seen or heard of anyone having it to this day & i have seen a lot of sweet NJS vinyl collections from respectable collectors along my journey of NJS record collecting & i still do collect till now. If anyone has this 12" available please send me a message displaying picture cover & i will most definetly purchase this vinyl from you. THANK YOU! DJOHMS74.
