Notes

Note from Steve Took website on this release:

Rest assured, the actual lineup on these tracks was Steve Took, Larry Wallis and Dave Bidwell. Twink, however, alleges that the following line-up recorded the session "soon after Steve returned from the [Tyrannosaurus Rex US] tour":

This release is subject of a great deal of controversy. Both Mick Farren and Larry Wallis claim that Twink had nothing to do with the Took sessions (apart from the tracks taken from Twink's Think Pink album). In fact the other Took tracks were released previousy on Shagrat Records, with the tapes and acetates supplied by Larry Wallis, and credited to a genuine line-up of Shagrat (Larry Wallis, Dave Bidwell, and Took) Twink was never in Shagrat. Twink also changed his mind about who played the bass when one person said "That's not true, I wasn't there".The so called 'demo versions' of the previously released Took tracks are widely considered to be overdubbed in the early 2000s with extra bongos by Twink while living in LA.In short this is an extremely dubious release, and its issue from Italy is very likely because of the lax copyright laws in that country. Mick Farren was uncharacteristically furious, in public, about this asking "What kind of scum robs from the dead, let alone a dead friend?" - Larry Wallis was, again publicly, more to the point as used words I will not reprint here. All the genuine tracks are available else where, so unless you really need some overdubbed bongos by Twink avoid this release - great music of course, but it is a fake - even the artwork is stolen.

this is basically a pink faries release BUT with twink running the show, this was a very obscure record until it was reissued on cd and lp some 15 years ago, this review is for the cd as the cd has a couple of extra songs, shagrat where never really a band, it was just the faries with twink in the studio jamming and fooling around and this record is the result of just a few recording sessions between 1969 and 1970, larry wallis really goes all out there on most of these tracks and that is why i bought this cd as im a big mick farren, deviants, pink faries and LARRY WALLIS FAN, decent liner notes come with this cd....
