Sam Cooke was only a member of the Highway QC's before they made any records, so that liner note is at best a mistake or at worst a flat-out lie. Sam quit the QC's to join the Soul Stirrers, and was replaced by Johnnie Taylor, who would later replace him in The Soul Stirrers too. As for track A1, "Gospel Records 1943-1969" by Cedric Hayes and Robert Laughton states that the lead singer was Spencer Taylor (I'm not sure if he was related to Johnnie), and that he also sang lead on several of the other tracks. Johnnie Taylor, who was greatly influenced by Sam, was part of the group for "Nobody Knows", but I'm not convinced that he's the lead singer (the Hayes & Laughton discography isn't helpful on this point).
