It’s impossible for me to get tired of listening to Lee Fields records..

Lee Fields has been around for some time delivering raw heavy soul funk. With much of his 70s recordings and his return LP for Desco Records firmly on uptempo driven soul funk, this 'Faithful Man' LP like his last 'My World' LP explores more slower and raw soul vocal lyric driven grooves. With hints and similarities to Willie Hutch and Bobby Womack soul, Lee Fields has found a new melodic soul sound that moves away from his earlier JB funk like tracks. Stringy and catchy 'I Still Got It', 'You're The Kind Of Girl' and 'Still Hanging On' are the strongest highlights with 'Intermission' giving a great instrumental end to Side A. 'It's All Over (But The Crying)' and 'Walk On Thru That Door' with its breakdown on side B are more highlights. A future timeless midtempo soul LP worth owning.
