There's some good songs in this collection. The recording quality has that diy feel and that also appeals. Part of the attraction of the original private pressings (particularly the Ithaca album) was the extreme obscurity and the subsequent mystery woven around them by dealers and collectors. With only 100 pressed (and apparently only 70 accounted for) had this album remained in the shadows it would be like one of those mythical beasts, like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monter .... whispered about but never seen. In the cold light of day one can't help but be slightly let down. For me the songs aren't really out-there enough to count as psychedelia... more like the soft-sike as pedalled by Moody Blues imitators from the 1970s. Despite that ... I admire people that have a musical vision and as I say - there's some good gear in this set.
