Terry Lee Brown Jr. is the one of the few people who can spin cheesy house into gold. As ably demonstrated on Selected Remixes, he takes tracks that would ordinarily be regular old bland dancefloor house and turns it into deep, driving tech-house. Who else could make a Nalin & Kane track (specifically “Talkin’ About) into something actually worth listening to? Orinoco’s “Mama Konda” has some great timestretched vocals in the service of uplifting chords, and Paris Red’s “Love Hurts” goes dark and moody. I suppose some credit goes to the creators of the original tracks -- but, really, Terry Lee Brown Jr. has made them his own.
