Supraphon Release InformationFate granted Petr Kalandra an unjustly short life, yet his songs remain with us!To commemorate what would have been the artist’s 60th birthday, Jan Spálený and Kalandra’s daughter Karolína made a selection of more than 30 pieces, in whose creation the singer, guitarist and harmonica player, composer and lyricist played a major role. Besides the feted Marsyas, the Amatérské Sdružení Profesionálních Muzikantů (Amateur Association of Professional Musicians) was an essential part of Kalandra’s career. The small ensemble (the two aforementioned musicians, plus František Havlíček and Filip Spálený in particular) afforded its members great scope, as well as the opportunity to attain consonance.In addition to performing the extremely popular cover versions of songs by folk giants, they created numerous original, yet no less acclaimed, pieces (most of them sung by Petr Kalandra on his own or in tandem with Jan Spálený): Krůtí píseň, A pak, Kapitán Slunce, Kulečník, Spadla mi pěna… The majority of the songs are furnished with Kalandra’s own lyrics, many of them personal yet all of them poetic.
