ONE OF THE first things you'll notice about this record is that the vocal tracks have been given a new lease on life. Clear. Urgent. Vibrating with troubadour grace - a Memphis-ation of historic proportions. The songs here are more "polished" (it's safe to say they ain't using a 4-track no more) but still contain the same trepidation as the ghosts of records past. Spray gun rhythms, and rev'd up pop songs were present on other records (see '94s smash summer hit "Bronze Cast" from CRAPPIN YOU NEGATIVE) but only really hinted at. These wax trax, are nothing but a non-stop indie rock roller coaster ride thru grifter-esque graffiti splattered alleyways and clinical landfills - led by four hungry musicians bound for glory and stopping only for coffee and cigarettes.
