I have been a big fan of The San francisco Marching, Trotting and Walking Band since I was 5 years old, and my Dad, Robert Marshall, used to play the LP every Sunday afternoon. This is AUTHENTIC music. An instant time machine that transports you back to the days of the Red Garter, and other such places that alas are no more. It was not only the music, but the red vinyl disc. But mostly the music, and as fine a representation of the Turn of the Century, Roaring Twenties music as I have ever heard since. Paul Miller was certainly one of the finest banjo players, and others, such as drummer Bob Wills and piano player Harold Zollman, go beyond nostalgia. With liner notes by the late great Ralph J. Gleason, who was one of the founders of Rolling Stone. At the time fantasy Records was over in San francisco's Mission district. Now it is over in Berkeley. At the time it was one of the foremost labels for jazz and blues in the Bay Area. One wishes that fantasy would release all the band's records The Good Old Days, Spirit Of The 20s, Concert In The Park and Our Leader (Paul Miller) out on a CD. I reckon anyone who was around when these tunes were first popular would attest to what a happy and unblemished work of music is heard within, but you'll feel like you could go out to the corner and hail a Marmon taxi, stroll in to your local saloon, light up a fatima, and soak your whiskers for a nickel

Hello, I am Paul Millers youngest daughter. I really enjoyed what you wrote about my dad. I was only 5 when he died in 1967, I have been trying to find the audio of his shows that he did in San Francisco or what he did on The Ernie Ford show.
