i don't like disagreeing with user:MAROKO as he is a hero to all discogs users; but i happen to think this is the best track in the WK7/Head High cannon. "Washer" is great breakbeat (built not sampled!) HOUSE, with a truly fucked sounding vocal sample; making this a perfect record to transition from house to techno/techno to house, or just add a little shade of the other to your formal set or whatever. i agree MEGATRAP was probably a stronger release overall, but "Washer" is probably the Palowitz track (not counting Wax/EQD) i've played at most, and for sure the one that usually goes over best. oddly i found mixing in Watergate's classic "Lonely Winter" (the "dubfire's luv dub" side) about 20-30 seconds into the beginning of this track and just letting both ride is a very very powerful mix, and really helps the Watergate record "explode" in a way it does not on its own. one thing i love about Palowitz's production is the way it sounds like he is sampling ghosts of 1991 and repurposing them. B side i think ive listened to once or twice tho.

Not a bad release unto its own, however I keep on asking myself where could possibly Rene take this moniker after the staggering success of "Do It Yourself (Original Mix) / Rave (Dirt Mix)"? After reaching - undeniably - a commercial, and - arguably - artistic peak with the third release on Power House, it was only a matter of time before people started going OK, so what else is new?A victory lap release, so to put it, was justifiable, and it arrived in the shape of last year's Megatrap double LP, but this? Hardly interesting...It's a solid production that will get the floor going. That hardly distinguishes this release from around 80% of other quality club friendly records. I reckon you should own this first and foremost if you (somehow) missed out on the really magical Head High/WK7 releases of the last few years, but if you already got those, and your collector hunger is satisfied, there's hardly need for this.Luckily, Shed has a real talent for knowing when to call it quits. All of his retired monikers have been put to sleep in the right moment: just when people were yearning for something fresh. Guess what? That's when Rene would come through, reinventing his sound, keeping it fresh behind his ears.My hearing tells me he already squeezed the most out of this moniker. I don't think I recall any artist these last few years cause as massive of a buzz as he did with these releases. However, this one is far from the standard set by its predecessors, and it might pay off more to quit while you're on an unreachable top than to keep on milking a bone dry cow.

Exactly, I had the same thoughts with my comment. Nice words!

this is the best Shed release in a long while. simple funky and fun, with the same groove as early wax & eqd. where i'm from, all the girls like to dance to this.

I usually like Shed's productions on Power House, but this one is a semi-failed release in my opinion. While both tracks maintain the usual Shed quality, "Washer" does not have the grove to be part of any good house/techno set. Too quirky and confusing without any of the power we would expect from Power House. And let's face it, all PH releases need to be exactly that."More Music" is standard quality production from Shed. The track sounds very familiar. Could have called this "Power Seat 2".

The Robert Dietz remix has the power house thump ;)

I am personally bored by Sheds new productions as they sound all the same. I think he has "harvested" all possible potential slumbering in his concept of great sounding, well celebrated and easily arranged hardcore beats. He should start a new project and redefine himself and not make the same mistake other producers have done before.
