The Dutch post punk/ultra-scene knew at the end of the 1970s with the Nijmegen Student band Kommando an odd man out. Although the Group experimented where the brothers Peter and Simon van Vliet in who resided there (in accordance with the spirit of the age) with two basses and a ritmebox but at the same time, the Group seemed well aware of the experimental traditions going back to the psychedelics and prog-rock of the sixties. Not for nothing they had named after a prog-rock/jazz-rock album by French band Magma. The Van Vliet left the band in 1990 pass into The Use Of Ashes, this time named after an album of the 1960s folk group Pearls Before Swine freak. The Use Of Ashes is above all the Group of Peter van Vliet that as a songwriter, producer, guitarist and singer also creates its own world in which the spirits of Syd Barrett and Joe Meek. Flake Of Eternity is the final part of the trilogy album White Nights and sounds initially as an almost impassable collage of Misty psychedelics, sound experiments and fragmentary folksongs. The musical madness, which nowhere derails, match multiple auditions under your skin and Flake Of Eternity makes more and more to a special listening experience.
