Most people see Spandau Ballet as the typical mid-80's "Blue Eyed Soul" band.The early material such as To Cut A Long Story Short and this, The Feeze, are testament to their abilities before they became truly starstruck.Talk of the New Romantic movement is generally centered on Visage, but considering Spandau Ballet were the in-house band of the Blitz Club it would be crazy to dismiss them.Their first album (Journeys To Glory, which this single is taken from) is a solid LP much in the same vein as Visage's "Visage" and Ultravox's "Vienna" albums.Much like Visage's eponymous LP, you can tell a dancefloor orientated vibe with Journeys To Glory. Most tracks are floorfillers.And "The Freeze" is no exception.Sounding pretty much like a prototype Franz Ferdinand (but with added synth), The Freeze is a classic New Wave track that is criminally underlooked.Everyone knows To Cut A Long Story Short, but not many know The Freeze.Check out Spandau Ballet before they became oh-so-typically 80's.

I have a version with shiny metallic green Chrysalis labels - is this just a variant or worthy of listing as a separate release?
