This record almost did not exist. First tests got lost -nowhere to be found? Then records were delivered to a foreclosed house by accident (massive housing crash here in Cali. at that time). To avoid a near total finantial loss on them, eventually tracked down the investor who anonymously brought them back to the foreclosed house, he returned these boxes in a garage heap of leftover junk. The garage was left unlocked for me to pick them up in the middle of the night which kind of mirrored in an odd way the meaning of several tracks off this record - "AirTroops" -a person who goes at it alone and the overall theme of getting lost..."It Can't Be Tonight" (like wtf where is this delivery??) or "Diamond Sky" finding diamond in the rough in a dumpster pile literally. FedEx had claimed delivered either way so it was really a miracle that these survived -records were days away from being sent to the junkyard. Lbe

An interesting split Ep from Sheweytrax. LBE starts off side A with 'Electric Baby" , a track with a great 1980s minimalwave like electro feel, but with dance floor appeal as well. Synths sweep over dramatically while a powerful 808 beat propels forward the dancer/listener. "It cant be tonight" has a grittier feel with guitars and harder synth sounds, and the side is finished with a more techno influenced jam that has a detroit techno vibe . Ed States on the Bside offers three versions of 'diamond sky', with an uplifting old school chi-town house sensibility. Cybernetic voice effects samples and the occasional cowbell give it a warmth that will cheer up dancefloors. The instrumental works on its own with more focus on the beat, and the shorter version can be useful for shorter dj sets, Cool release with a very keen nod to the underground.

This new vinyl release, 'LBE and Ed States - 'Electric Baby e.p.' is a split 12". Side A, offers three tracks by LBE (Live Better Electrically). He keeps the music as the main focus, without any (often - unnecessary - production tricks). There is an aura of early 80s proto - electro reflections, in the sound of the first two tracks, 'Electric Baby' and 'It Can't Be Tonight', while keeping a funky vibe, melted with gritty synth bursts and electro beats, with the third track, coming in strong, a special hybrid of 4/4 beat, electro - disco, pads and distorted lead melodies, while a dirty bass drives the track. On Side B, Ed States, offers three installments, of his 'Diamond Sky' track (vocals provided by Live Better Electrically). There is the main 'Ed's Lookout Mix', the 'Instrumental' and a shorter '3min Carat' mix. A gritty bassline sets the pace, a 4/4 beat, layered pads and distorted vocal phrases, have an almost hypnotic techno - disco effect. As a whole, there is a high level of musical individuality, on both sides of this release, and that is something i always respect. If you like techno/electro/disco, in the form of a shiny, great sounding 12", this one is for you!Review by: George Embryonik, http://www.chaindlk.com/reviews/?id=7232
