The lyrics are based on the diary of a mental patient who had been housed in an institution that once stood on the same spot where Cult of Luna's rehearsal space was residing. The journal was discovered when the band was moving to a different spot at the same location. The name of the journal was "Tales From The Eternal Kingdom"
