For many, this was the first taste of Carsten Endraß's oveure. An interesting off-shoot of early techno, Markant's output is still a weird breed of glitchy rhythms and classical overtures today, due for a more mainstream rediscovery. Carsten is obviously a trained keyboard player, with Klaus Schulze-sounding dark atmospherics running in tandem with beats that sometimes don't make sense. Kinda like Aphex but with prog-rock synthetic soap-opera synth pads. Deep reverb and delays are heavy in the mix on this release, featuring cyclic simple melodies that show a high level of craftsmanship, belying the massive amount of releases to follow in the next two years...
